Poets and artists have been coming to the Lake District for centuries gaining inspiration from the dramatic and beautiful scenery.
For 10 days writers and readers get together to share the pleasure of books, words and ideas.Theatre by the Lake, sited right on the edge of Derwentwater, is a striking venue for a full programme of events. There are talks, lectures, discussions, workshops and special exhibitions.
Terry Waite delves into his past as he offers a selection of poems and memories, royal expert Penny Junor offers insight into the life of Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall and Claire Tomalin turns her biographer’s mind to her own life and discusses her colourful and eventful past, are just a few of the many inspirational speakers.
